Cloud Deployment

National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) defines Cloud Computing as a model that allow a group of users access the shared and configurable resources from anywhere. This resource could be configured, adjusted, and scale up or down flexibly vary from the live demand, maximizing resource utilization. In this definition, NIST defines cloud into 2 formats: by deployment in which how user uses the cloud and by service in which how the cloud service providers offer the cloud solutions.

In this topic, we would like to briefly introduce you 3 cloud deployments: Private Cloud, Public Cloud and Hybrid Cloud

Private Cloud is a computing and storage format for organization’s internal use. This private data storage could be servers installed within office or nearby data center for the employees to access the resource solely through internal organization system or intranet.

Public Cloud is a computing and storage format which could be accessed from outside organization or through the Internet connection. Organization would have less control on this deployment compared to private cloud as the public cloud providers would be the one operates and maintains service. However, the customers would benefit from lower cost of implementation.

Hybrid Cloud is a combination of private cloud and public cloud in which the organization could set up the intelligence system to call confidential data from private cloud to compute on public cloud. Hybrid cloud is a workload balance management which maximize cloud utilization and maintain security.

Direct Cloud Connect or the Internet-bypass Connectivity

is a data communication solution to link between customer’s site and public cloud provider’s cloud equipment domestically and internationally while the telecommunication service provider is a middleman between them to bring the customer to the cloud.

In the past, any businesses whether government or private sectors both store their business data on their traditional on-premise servers for internal use.
