Dr. Dhanant Subhadrabandhu, Executive Vice President at CAT Telecom reveals about telecom network expansion plan “At this moment, the importance of internet connectivity is undeniable. As a result, CAT has unceasingly developed telecommunication infrastructure which includes submarine cable systems connecting all the regions around the world. This year, we are working on a new route APG (Asia Pacific Gateway) where we have invested over 2 billion baht. This system connects directly to Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, and Japan. With this project, CAT will be Thailand’s sole service provider who operates direct connectivity with submarine cable system to such popular global content providers as Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Lind, Akamai, Amazon, etc. Submarine cable system is considered the best and most effective telecommunication infrastructure. Recently, CAT Internet Gateway has the most and largest bandwidths in Thailand for providing internet connectivity globally with equal quality to top providers in the region. We have networked with Singapore, Hong Kong, USA, England, Netherlands, Germany, France, and countries in other regions around the world. Plus, we also have a plan to expand the connectivity network at 100 Gbps to other regions, enabling us to operate the bandwidth of 500 Gbps, which allows internet users on CAT Internet Gateway to promptly access contents. And in this year, we have as well invested over 200 million baht in system and equipment development to enhance the network in response to the growth of digital economy and enable the potential of Tbps (Terabit per Second) bandwidth for AEC.

Besides, we also provide the service to universities’ networks or UNINET by connecting networks of universities through intranet to Internet Gateway to maximize the effectiveness in information transmitting on networks. Apart from UNINET, internet connectivity in huge and important government sectors are supported by CAT for internal development and better public service. CAT is also trusted by leading ISP providers such as TRUE, TOT, 3BB, and AWN for our Internet Gateway. This year’s income is aimed at more than 1.7 billion baht, coming from sales and usage in relevant businesses like broadband internet service or C-Internet, corporate internet, CAT Data Center, and mobile internet connectivity ‘my by CAT’”.

At the coming 8th Asia IoT Business Platform on May 26-27, 2016 at Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok, CAT is to be a part in introducing telecommunication technology to showcase its potential and readiness in being telecom infrastructure service provider for holistic Internet of Things technology.
